I have family members that have worked a long time in customer service, and I've seen the difference it makes when comments on an employee's work are shared with the manager (in addition to the employee). So today, I reached out to a customer service rep's manager to say how great the rep was when helping me out with a recent issue.

One of the nurses I work with had preemie twins. A Go Fund Me page was set up and I am blessed enough that I am able to make a donation to it, along with a lot of prayers for her babies.

I want to take this day to recognize all the people who work for what they want to accomplish in life and also say how proud I am of my mom who has dedicated her time on learning something new. I have learned a lot from her, and I want to say how grateful I am of that. Her hard work should be noted as should Mr. Nemeth’s, for all the students he motivated to do better. I am glad I got the chance to speak with an alumna of Cristo Rey who had him as a teacher – I learned how good of a person he was. Just like my mom, he was willing to help others succeed and provide an example on how to live my best life. I feel we should use this day to recognize people like them.

I will be taking November 15th as an opportunity to remember those who have sacrificed themselves in order to support my family’s education. One person who has made countless sacrifices is my mom. My mom immigrated at a young age to provide a better education for her siblings, me, and my siblings. Her dedication to my education has been unimaginable, as I am one of the few people in my family who have achieved an education beyond grammar school. I am thankful for receiving this year’s Nemeth scholarship, as I will be saving money and using it to continue my higher studies in college to achieve the goals and dreams I have.

Mr. Nemeth is an inspiration to not just me but my mother. After talking to my mother about Mr. Nemeth, she felt honored to be engaged in something that not everyone gets the opportunity to be able to do. My mother is striving to be better through opportunities with her education. She goes to school after work tired, frustrated, and even mad of the outcome of her day, but she still believes that it is necessary to do it because it is for our good. I also believe I am following Mr. Nemeth's footsteps by doing more with my life. I do more by doing sports while getting my education and I love to serve at church and help those who need it.

Josh was a love of learning and books; while we were stationed at Great Lakes, the MWR Library was our home away from home. The staff are incredible and give so much to the military community stationed there. For Do Something Day I will be reaching out to the Staff to see how I can donate to the MWR Library - specifically to their Children's Programs.

Dan and I have been meaning to take our neighbors out to dinner as a "thank you" for a favor they did for us a ridiculously long time ago. It's always been one reason or another that we didn't set it up. In honor of "Do Something Day" we are finally going to do it!

Josh was not only a mentor to me but to so many other people. This year I'm signing up to be a mentor through the Chicago Bar Association to mentor a young female family law attorney.

There have been several things I have lost touch with over the past year or so due to working much more, but I think it is time to work them back into my life.

I’m finding books, toys, clothes to donate to this wonderful, local charity that gathers all children items and then periodically, opens up to everyone. And it’s all free!!!

This will be the 3rd year my Granddaughter Lucille and I have done this challenge honoring Josh. Lucille made her Confirmation this year and as a Service Project helped lead a group at her school making Blankets for the Homeless. She taught them how to tie fleece material into warm Blankets. My Grandson Aiden was able to come last year and is coming again this year. I am hoping my Grandsons Jack and Matt will be able to come this year. Our thoughts are with all of Josh’s Family this year on November 15th.

I will be working on an event reconnect old friends from grade school. I will also be looking back at Starbucks. I'm going to buy a Toasted White Chocolate drink (I've never tried it!), and I will purchase the order of the person who is waiting behind me.

For the third consecutive year, Mooseheart School is proud to participate in "Do Something Day". Mr. Matt Nemeth will be our guest speaker at a 10:15 assembly. We are once again sending all HS students to Feed My Starving Children in Aurora from 12-2 to pack food for those in need. Last year we packed enough for over 16,000 meals!
