It's been years since I last spoke with Isaiah Lewis, my little brother through Big Brothers of Chicago. We were tight for years - he was even the ring bearer when Meg and I were married. But, as he grew up and became a teenager, he decided that he did not want to continue our connection. Since then, I tried to reach out to him a few times, but I didn't try that hard to catch up with him. For Do Something Day this year, I'm going to reconnect with Isaiah and see if I can help him as he continues to develop into a young adult.

Before work, Rachel and I went around the hallways, and we were complementing people as we went on. The complements we gave weren't complements like "oh you look pretty today" "nice hair" "you're nice". The complements we tried giving were dedicated to each person personally and we tried to put our hearts into them so people could carry that with them throughout the day as a whole.

I am going to go to bed earlier so I am not so exhausted every day. Hopefully this will also eliminate the impulse to press my snooze alarm and thus getting ready in the morning will be less stressful.

This year, I set out to launch my calligraphy side business, with Do Something Day as a target date. I'm happy to say I met this goal more than a month ahead of schedule. To celebrate, I'm sending out calligraphed mail and creating new pieces of hand lettered work.

Be a parent volunteer for the drama teacher at my son's school because I think it's pretty great that this is a required class for K-8th graders and I worry that it will go away if there is no support.

My son, Joshua is 5 years old and loves science experiments. This year we are going to research and do the "True Colors" experiment Josh did as a teacher; coincidentally, it is also one of Joshua's favorite songs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sITNiQGzsKA

Spread more love around the world. Traveling is a passion of mine. I have been fortunate to travel to places where love is needed where a simple smile can make a huge difference. As I continue on embarking new travels, I will converse more with people, learn about them, and leave something for them as a thank you. As well as being there more for my friends since we all live in different parts, I want to make sure they know I cherish them.
