Instead of arguing with my daughter Charlotte to go to bed I'm letting her stay up, and sleep in my bed tonight.

Ayn Rand has been recommended to me countless times over many years. I know she was a favorite author of yours, Josh - so this 'Do Something Day' I will begin reading her work. Thank you for the motivation!

My daughter and I did a little shopping for Scott Huber. We filled a reusable shopping bag with toiletries, granola bars, bananas, bottle water, candy and a gift card to a restuarant he can walk to for a cup of coffee or a bite to eat. I'm going to make a better effort to wave & give him a smile each time we pass his tent.

We donated to Mercy Home for Boys and Girls. Also, we said a prayer to St. Edmund because I used love to see Josh at mass there.

I found out an associate at work was a Vietnam Vet. I went out of my way to acknowledge and thank him for the service he gave to our country. I bought him a Vietnam Veteran hat and added an American Flag pin, US Army pin, and rank pin. He was very proud to wear that hat!

Thinking of Josh today and keeping in mind that this world is not our final destination, that we are just passing through. Therefore, I will try to focus on being the best version of myself day to day, and helping others to be the best versions of themselves. On a side note, today is the feast day of Saint Albert the Great. He is the patron saint of scientists.

This December marks the 5th year anniversary of my dad's passing. In his honor, I would like to host a gathering of all my cousins and their kids on my dad's side of the family. Been way too long since we've all been together.

Joshua lit a candle at Church for Uncle Josh using the money from his piggy bank. He also decorated a balloon and sent it up to Heaven for Uncle Josh's birthday.

I plan to grab the kids and finally go through the toys in our basement. The plan is to donate what we have grown out of and hopefully share some of the fun we've had with those who don't have.

On 11/15 we will be delivering a set of hats & gloves, as well as homemade cookies to 22 men at a Halfway House in Blue Island. We will also enclose a copy of the book Unbroken, hopefully to be read and shared by at least one of the men! Assisting or donating are: Bridget Cusack, Eunjee Chang, Patty Clements, Jen McNeela, Tom & Bev Cusack, & Nicholas Duffin. We chose a Halfway House, because we believe that everyone deserves a second chance and that there is great potential in every human being. Also, shortly after Josh went to eternity, I read a book called "Same Kind of Different as Me." The main character in this book, which is a true story, reminded me of Josh, in that she lived an extraordinary life. She did not see any human being as "disposable". I also firmly hold that belief, and am honored to serve these men in Josh's memory and honor.

I have committed to run the Turkey Trot in Detroit on Thanksgiving Day with my older brother, something I've wanted to do for several years. At the end of the race, I look forward to giving thanks for family, health, and Josh's challenge to live fully and with conviction (all things to be thankful for every day)!

Family was one of the most important things in life for Josh. For DSD, we are going to spend the day doing some of Josh's favorite things such as going to Church and enjoying a Pumpkin Spice Latte at Starbucks.

I've learned that Josh was a devoted family man, and that building meaningful relationships was important to him. In honor of Do Something Day, I will reach out to a family member and a friend to catch up by phone - not text!

We recently received a new family from out of state at our school. Their young child is having significant separation anxiety, something we endured this year with our youngest. We are going to reach out to them and serve as a mentor family, helping them get acclimated not only to our school, but to Michigan. Nothing is in vain if it lightens the burden of another, right? Thank you, Josh and the Nemeth family, for reminding us to LIVE each day.

I'll be canvassing for a really great friend and mentor of mine. He's running for office and he needs signatures to get on the ballot for voting day. This will also be great since I'll be able to connect with my community members. I feel that Mr. Nemeth would appreciate the camaraderie in this. :) Happy birthday, Mr. Nemeth! :)

Josh it is that time of year again and the leaves are falling faster than I can keep up with them. This year I am going to help our neighbor and blow his leaves as he is recovering from knee surgery. This is a wonderful time too, to remember your entire family in our prays. Love, Ed

I can hardly believe another year has come around and we are all thinking of things we could do in honor of you, Josh. One lady is sick at our church that usually cleans the church on Monday mornings with a large group of her friends. So I offered to run the dust cloth around and set the choir books up straight for the next two weeks. Hope I don't run into any gum and not to many Cheerios under the seats. Josh, I think of you every day as you are on my nightly prayer list. May God hold you in his arms and give comfort to your family. Love, Mims
